I'm looking for another way to launch outside files...

creating a WScript.Shell object is causing the EXE to crash, and I'm researching alternatives (as in other languages), but if it can be done with just a different object that would be preferable.

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for, unfortunately it crashes just the same :(

This is a remote computer using RSH to call a vbs script which in turn calls msdev.

When our particular RSHDaemon is run as a service, msdev bonks. When it's run as a process, msdev is happy. When the vbs file is launched locally, msdev is happy. Under the very particular circumstances that the vbs file is launched by the service, msdev is unhappy.

I just tossed a test script together in Perl using the `'s and system methods, and they both work fine through the service, perhaps a night of porting is in front of me.
