Started working on a re-design of my personal page on Thursday. Naturally i want it to look/function better than anything I've done to date.

I need suggestions on how to handle the content. I thought about using an iFrame, so my flash player didn't need to reload with every new page click... problem is iFrame isn't approved as valid xhtml. I'd use flash, but then I'd have issues with search engine crawlers.

any suggestions?

Have a read of this thread, "HTML or XHTML": thread215-1193012, and the link within it, "How to choose a DOCTYPE":

You may well decide that you no longer want to have your pages as XHTML, if you're not serving them as such.

This would then remove the whole dilemma of an element you use not being XHTML friendly.

Hope this helps,
Dan

I guess then to that end, would you suggest using an iFrame for the content? It's been about 6 years since i last used an inline frame for anything...

It's not important that the content scroll at all, as a matter of fact i'd rather it didnt, i'm just trying to avoid reloading the flash.

Flash caches horribly. It's often a pain to get rid of it actually. So you shouldn't really have much trouble with it reloading as it more than likely won't.

Or do you mean you want to prevent an flash animation replaying from the begining?
If so, perhaps you could do something with Cookies and get the flash movie to play from the start on the first play and from "point A" every other time?
