I dont really want to touch the autonumbers in my customer database as these are critical to synchronise related tables. However, for various reasons, these dont really make sense for use as a unique customer reference. As Access does not allow a second autonumber in a table, is there another way I can have a new number generated in one of the tables?

Thanks
