Alternative to ActiveSync 4.1 for wireless sync on HP iPaq?

Hello all,

I have an HP iPaq Pocket PC with WiFi built in, and have learned I cannot do a wireless sync using ActiveSync 4.1 (which is the only version that will work on Windows 5.0...drat).

Does anyone know of an alternative way to using ActiveSync 4.1, to allow a wireless sync?

Also, is there a way to install those Pocket PC apps that come as EXEs without having to use ActiveSync? In other words, is there a way to install them the way CAB files are installed directly? I often surf the Web from anywhere in my house, using my iPaq, and would like to download those EXEs and install them directly.

Thanks for any help,
Mark

The answer to your second question (installing apps directly on the PDA) depends on the developer. I believe it's possible to create installers that run on the PDA itself but the developer would have to specifically create this and make it available. The EXEs that you normally download are Windows executables compiled for desktop processors so won't run at all under Windows Mobile.
