We need DID service but even a 12 channel PRI from the phone company is pretty expensive is there any alternative that is as reliable as a PRI that can provide us with DID numbers we only need about 6 to 8 channels and only about 25 DID numbers for our IP Office 500 version 8.

Almost entirely depends on where you are?

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Comcast offers partial/split/fractional (whatever you want to call them) PRI's. We have 2 or 3 customers that use it with Cisco UC560's (before we became Avaya partners). One is a 6 channel and I think the other two are 8 or 9 channel. I think they are very cost effective compared to a full PRI.

sounds like sip may work for you and very cheap as well!

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

very very little will be as reliable as a pri, except another pri, or maybe analog. As great as SIP is, it depends HEAVILY upon a good internet connection. That being said, SIP is great, and I like my service from flowroute. You can buy channels/DID's and such from them, they even have "virtual PRI's". You just pay through amazon, and load up your account. Works great for me.

I was also going to suggest Comcast if they are in your area.

We just got Comcast PRI and it works great.
It takes about a month to get. They ran a new Coax (thick) from the Comcast fiber convertor on the pole.
They wouldn't run it off the same Coax the internet runs off of. The give you your own modem for the PRI and bring it to an Adtran that converts to PRI.

We use a SIP trunk for the backup number which goes over the internet part of Comcast.

Bundled together PRI,100mb down internet, and a couple basic TVs we pay under $600/month.

E&M Wink T-1 is cheaper than PRI. This form of trunking is as reliable as PRI. You get DIDs via dynamic allocation but you only get ANI caller id. No D-channel. PRI has made voice T-1 almost obsolete over the past 10-15 years.
