How do you assign an alternate greeting that is recorded to give people calling this message. Thanks for calling we are closed for the holiday. Please leave a message and we will return your call on Monday when we return. Something of that nature. I have a customer that recorded the Alt message when you go to the section where it tells you to record the Prime or Alt greeting. They told me that they have done this before but couldn't get it working over the Fourth of July holiday.
Thanks for the help.
Dmac,

make sure you have selected the ALT greeting as the active greeting.

What I like to do is use a phone that has all trunk line apearances then I Call Forward that phone to VM using Ftr 4.

Then I rerecord the company greeting using the mailbox assigned to that phone. Incoming callers will only be able to listen to the message and leave a message.

Sometimes, setting up a whole AA menu is just too cumbersome for a small business so using a single mailbox is easy and simple.

jsaad,
Thanks for the help. The forwarding trick sounds like it will work for most of the people I deal with.
Thanks again.
Dmac,

What I would do is record a greeting say under greeting 5
Stating that the business is closed due to the Holiday, then under the greeting table I make sure that greeting 5 is set to play on the morning afternoon evening and non business. This seems to work a lot better than doing the alt greeting. Hopes this helps

I agree with Norstargirl, changing the greeting number in the table is easier.

Thanks for the tips, I have a customer who is looking to do the same thing. Either should work fine. thanks again
