Can anyone help me out here?
I am trying to setup AAM to fix an issue where outside users lose the URL after navigating a few pages.
If I set up my URL as the default, I can not map another internal URL to it.
If I setup another site as the default URL I lose connectivity to the site altogether. This is similar to the example giving in the MS documents on AAM, where they show a URL as the default, while the contoso.com URLs are the actual ones they use
I have tired this but I think there must be some setup I am not understanding when using this kind of default URL

Any Help would be appreciated.

hello,
In my farm, I have the default set up as the ip of my nlb cluster. This could also be the ip of your front end if you only have one.
I then have 3 mappings set for the intranet zone - one for the DNS name which is mapped to the nlb cluster ( and one for each of the front end servers by name(ex. I then set up another AAM for my external access. This is set up for the Internet zone and points to another dns which I have set up through ISA to allow for external access (ex. I have it set to use SSL through ISA.

Hope this helps.
