I would like to import XML files that carry book metadata (ONIX files) into MS Access and am having two problems. First the data in one of the fields across the set of records, the description field, are significantly longer than 255 characters, althought I cannot tell how much exactly. I think might need the description field to hold as many as 1500/2000 chars as the descriptions in the data set's records are basically whole paragraphs. Second, after I "get data" and select XML, rather than bringing in all of records as rows with columns corresponding to the various metadata elements--title, isbn, publisher, author(s), etc--the individual records are broken down into tables. And the biggest problem here is that author names--which vary in number based on how many author(s) a given book has-- appear in their own table, rather than within the table carrying the titles.

For the latter problem I may need to include a DTD.

Any suggestions most appreciated. Thanks, ml5003
