alter table

im trying to update the width of a field in access 97 but it isn't working. i try the exact same code in 2000 and it works. any help? this is the sql im using:

alter table tablename alter fieldname text(10)

Well, no, that won’t work but this might do it for you.

Alter Table yourtable add column notes text(25)
