Alteon AD3 Performance

Anyone have any practical experience on the real performance of an AD3 in terms of requests per second? We picked up one just to test and are seeing abysmal results - like 80 rps max before errors overwhelm it. Comparitively ZXTM on an AMD 750 pushes 400 rps no sweat.
