This may sould like a stupid question but

what does the "Alt Gr" button on a UK keyboard running Windows do?

Ive scoured the net with google and to my suprise ive not been able to find the answer (Why did they have to change the way google searches the web)

i think it might have something to do with apple pcs as my logitech cordless keyboard has a pictures of an apple and and funny looking square with swirly corners on it absolutely no idea what it does though

Found out what they do right the ALT button in a program like word/excel if pressed in conjunction with a letter like F or E will go to the Edit or File menu.
However ALTGR lets you press the E or F Button to result in a 'symbol' letter é like that or áéíóú seems to be the vowels that it lets you use to make forgien accented if thats the word
