Gagging to try Alpha tagging but am wanting to add a considerable amount of numbers. (30k???? Im not sure it will even do that)

Preparing for the worst. I cant see easy way of deleting the contacts if and when I come to remove them.

I cant sit there and manually delete 30k worth of contacts/numbers??????

Any suggestions about how it can be done. Or is it a case of commiting that amount and them staying there for ever?

I haven't kept abreast of this, but as I recall a single controller (with Flex Dims) can accept up to 65,000 directory entries. I'm not sure what any extended field requirements would be either.

OpsMan with centralized directory would probably be the way to go with this, though I personally cannot imagine the horrible task of keting-in all that data and thereafter having to administer the periodic churn.

Why would you have to delete all 30,000 entries at once?

Since these are Directory Assignments, you can import them via Excel, but deleting my friend, it might be just easier to default restore a database from before (i.e. before you start to put them in). That could cause way more problems then it's worth.

Well. I tried, failed, took it off.

I finally managed to filter all the dross out of the csv file and imported around 25k of records.

The 3300 took them all, so I thought, took around 30-45minutes to import.

What the 3300 actually took was less that 700 (Im not sure how many as I ended up putting a random nunber in to delete 'an' amount of records.

It certainly didnt take anywhere near the amount I needed.

The only way I found out there was a limit is because I tried to add a new phone this morning and it wouldnt allow me to do it, simply saying Id run out of space.

As for logistics. I added a "." to the start of each alpha tag so they were all grounded together.

I also exported the old directory before I added the customer csv file.

When I deleted all requires, including the extention information, I just reimported the old directory again.

I must admit I wasnt 100% sure if the phone system would carry on working without the telephone directory...It did, just without names just numbers.

So.. There you have it.. A fleeting glance at alpha tagging and it didnt do what I wanted it to do....
