Alpha Problem on Install?

Hello!
I have an Alpha Workstation PS600a which running on OpenVMS 7.1-h2 i need to switch my Operating Systm to Red Hat.
The machine is using two harddisk 1 for VMS then One for RedHat. First i will remove the Hardisk for VMS before i Install RedHat.
My Question is: If i install Red Hat on the Machine do the configuration on SRM(Fireware for Alpha) affected?
Then if ever i will Install The Old Hardisk with VMS OS do the machine perform the same?
