We recently upgraded our system to 6.7.38, which I understand has the ability to swipe a credit/gift card and have the system automatically detect which type of card it is, apply payment, and close the check. According to the manual I've set all the right settings (Auto Detect Credit Card Swipe/Tap, prefixes for cards are entered, and "always display tender screen" is checked for each card type).

When I swipe any card right now, whether it's Amex, Visa, MC, or even a driver's license, instead of detecting the card type and applying payment, it adds an item to the check. Specifically an iced coffee. As far as I can tell from the manual it's set up right, but I must be missing something.

Sounds like it's configured to create a tab on swipe in the order screen. have you tried swiping a card when at the payment screen to see if it auto detects the card type?

Our terminals don't really have a "payment" screen. The order screen is always showing and there are buttons for exact change, next highest, and specific bills at the bottom. To pay with a credit card we hit "other payments" and it brings up a panel that lists each type of credit card and gift cards (with the order screen still visible). On that payment screen you have to hit which credit card type you're using. Only then does a payment screen pop up and prompt to swipe the card.

I tried hitting the Mastercard button and swiping a Visa and it said invalid prefix. There isn't a generic "credit card" payment screen.
