Aloha with Android

I'm thinking about using an android tablet with our Aloha system. I received a quote from Aloha that was quite ridiculous ($3200 for 2 licenses sans tablets), so I was thinking of going another way. I can remote into a terminal from a tablet and allow the servers to order from here. Has anyone tried and had success with something like this or have another solution?

I have seen this and have done it for some restaurants using Ipads.

Aloha does it with a module (hence the cost). Is that how you do it and is this a service?
