Hi,

I am new to Aloha. Currently we have 1 cash drawer (drawer #1) plugs into the receipt printer with a RJ12 plug and is hardwired to the drawer. I would like to add another cash drawer. I have another drawer (drawer #2) that is also hard wired with a RJ12 plug. On the bottom of the Radiant Termainal model 1220 there are sockets for Cash 1 and Cash 2 but are smaller than RJ12, I think RJ11. So I have a couple questions. Can I leave drawer 1 plugged into the printer and plug drawer 2 into the terminal (assuming I can change the jack) Can I get a new cable for drawer 2 and wire it into the drawer(getting the pin assignment right)? I'll have more questions about configuration in the back end if any of the above will work. Or am I just out of luck and need to buy new drawers? I am probably leaving out some critical piece of info so ask away!

Thanks in Advance,

Greg

the cash drawer you currently have is a printer interface cash drawer, If you wanted to plug into the computer you would need an OPOS drawer.
To put 2 printer interface drawers on the same printer, you need a "special" splitter. Find a 2 line phone jack splitter where on one side 1 wire goes in from printer and on the other end it has labels for line 1 and 2 put those into each cash drawer. If you are going to buy new drawer ask for splitter to be added. Having the right cables and adapters leaves to less points of failure in future.

In Aloha copy everything the same, with exception where is drawer number is currently 1, make new one 2. That setting is on right side 1/3 down just below where it asks what printer it will be connected to.

To add Opos cash drawer, you would plug into cd1 or to and get the correct opos name from the radiant setting. It should be something like cd.1, cd1 I just forget at the moment.

Thank you for your help I will try it today if I can find the splitter at the local Frys!

Thank you for your help, I hope you are still out there. Well, I went to Frys and got a splitter but that didn't work so I went online to APG and ordered 320 multi PRO cable kit part #cd-d1d2ep. I set up the back end as you specified. The two cash drawers show up on the POS screen.
Below are the results:

Drawer 1 Plugged into Port 1 Works
Drawer 1 Plugged into Port 2 Nothing
Drawer 1 Plugged into Port 2 Drawer 2 Plugged into Port 2 both fire
Drawer 2 Plugged into Port 1 Works
Drawer 2 Plugged inot Port 2 Nothing
Drawer 2 Plugged into Port 1 Drawer 1 Plugged into Port 1 both fire

Above is touching open drawer on the older cashier screen, touching open drawer on the newly created screen nothing happens either port either drawer.

The printer is an Epson Model 129B

Any more help would be greatly appreciated,

Greg
