I'm wanting to change the user ID of all the managers in the restaurant, not just change their password. How do I do this without having to erase the employee and re-add them? Thanks.
Peck - the short answer is that you don't. In items, categories and modifiers you can right click and copy a record to another making creating a new entry easy. With employees; however, it's not that simple. Those options are grayed out.
With that said, you can modify the DBF directly and switch their numbers. It should be on a brand new day where absolutely no data is present. In fact, none of the managers should have even logged in yet. If they do, you won't be able to run End of Day because Grind will fail.
You would have to edit EMP.DBF in order to change their numbers. Be careful, because it has to be changed in two different places within the DBF. You will also want to change the I9.DBF and a few others. If you make a mistake here - you're in deep.
My recommendation is to re-add them. It will save you from making a huge mistake and paying somebody to fix it.
You should not delete employee user id's as you would then lose all historical data for that user. If you wish to assign managers new employee id's, I would first zap their current one and then create new ones for them. this way you will maintain historical data for your employees.
