We have aloha ts 5.3. We have been told that the Translog file is binary data and is encrypted (to be read only by Aloha POS system).

What exactly is needed to read the Translog file (is this something that can be read with the add on Crystal Reports or with some other add on program).

We need to know what was on missing tickets, will this enlighten us?

Your request is not clear.

Your 1st line is accurate but I lose you after that.

Here's a Trans.log 101 primer.
You current days data has trans.log running in it. When the system does an EOD either forcefully or automatically, the trans.log is ground into various data files, maybe a dozen or more. Then the corresponding dated folder is created. These data files are what your Aloha uses when doing various reports. You'll notice that when you view a report from the BOH for the current day, a grind window appears (not true for a previous day). It is this temporary grind that allows the system to view the current trans.log.

Now back to your question-
We need to know what was on missing tickets, will this enlighten us?

From what day? Everything contained in any days trans.log is in a report somewhere for that day. Audit report, reprint guest check, void report, etc

Be more specific, please.

You can use Crystal to read the data from the summary files generated by the end of day. To read the actual contents of a Trans.Log file requires a special application called "LogUtils."

This application is available from your Aloha reseller, it requires a special HASP key to allow its use. With it you can split / merge / view / fix Aloha transaction logs.

It is very powerful, and very easy to use, once you get your hands on it.
