Aloha Tip out

How do you do tip outs for servers in a cashier environment? I get the error "You cannot perform a cash in/out function using the account designated for Tip Outs." when I try... I set it up the tip out account under petty accounts and then assigned it in the store settings > financials > tips area, which seems to be all the manual really says about it... Any ideas?
