Aloha Testing with Gift Cards

I am doing some testing on a third party gift card program, I need to test tendering the sale of a gift card using a credit card. It seems that when you sell a gift card in aloha and tender with a credit card it doesn't activate of load the gift card.

Is there a "demo" or "testing mode" that I would be able to put my system in to run a transaction for testing? I know a few other pos systems out there have that feature. Like Micros and Aldelo.

Or does anyone have any insight as to what is special about Credit cards in Aloha?

If you need more info, please let me know. This is a pretty big bug I found and need help asap.

what is the name of the third party gift card you are using? Aloha only supports a handful of gift card processors that will integrate with. If it is one that is not fully supported, you will not be able to activate and load gift cards directly through your aloha pos. You will most likely need to load and redeem them on a stand alone terminal ie. verifone terminal.

I believe the following gift card processors are supported

Paymentech
Valuetec
Fifth Third
ComData

I'm not testing one of those providers but I am able to activate and load gift cards from Aloha.

The problem I am having is that, while I can detect payment application for cash (as an example), the method I am using to listen to Aloha events is not detecting credit card payments.

I'm hoping to be able to detect when a credit card payment is authorized/accepted so I will know that is when the gift cards should be activated.

Does that make sense?
