Hello All - I am dealing with the following error and could use some assistance. My buddy has an Aloha system which consists of a BOH server and three terminals. The other morning when he came in the terminal #1 was showing an error message: "RAL Version is having difficulty reaching the BOH server. Ther terminal might have to be rebooted."

I tried the reboot but it didn't work. I checked the communication between that specific terminal and the server and I can ping both ways and VNC works. All network hardware has been rebooted, the terminals have been rebooted and the server has been rebooted. I checked the configuration on the BOH to make sure the terminal wasn't flagged for reload and I also tried to run the reload from the BOH but the terminal didn't seem to take it.

I am not very well versed on Aloha so I could really use some pointers as to where to go from this point.

Does the firewall block just one terminal and allow others to load properly? I will be back onsite tomorrow so I will check. Maybe a windows update kicked it back on.

Run this in an administrative command prompt on the server:

netsh interface ipv4 set global multicastforwarding=enabled

then reboot it. Once it's back up, reboot the terminal.

I'm not a big fan of RAL. If you want, you can always just do a term install on the terminals and start aloha via ibercfg.bat

Ral is by far the fastest and easiest way to setup a FOH without knowing anything about the environment. Takes far less time to setup a system and it can set all accounts correctly. It can be run without a keyboard, knowing the IP address, account name, or even number of terms. The BOH aloha admin UI has all this information already setup and even has the correct path for Calibration
Term install may have issues with the newer versions as it registers dll's not part of a term install.
