Dear Forum:

I'm looking for somebody experienced in the Aloha TableService POS software platform. I've been working with 3 restaurants for over 5 years now supporting their software, and we are going to be upgrading their servers soon.

I have very little experience installing this software from scratch, so I'm wondering if anybody on the forum has any knowledge of migrating the back-of-house from one server to another.

If I cannot find anybody who has this knowledge, I was considering backing up their server using Acronis TrueImage with Universal Restore, then restoring to the new server using the Universal Restore feature.

Please erespond if you have extensive experience installing and/or troubleshooting Aloha TableService and I would be very interested to speak with you further.

Thank you.

You can use one of my FAQ's listed on this site to guide you thru installing Aloha. What version are they crrently on, I can get you an install disk, run the install then copy the old file across.

Hello. Thanks for the response. I have 2 restaurants.

Restaurant # 1 has Aloha Manager v5.3.31
Restaurant #2 has Aloha Manager v6.1.1

Is this the overall Aloha version? Or do I find that somewhere else?

Thanks.

That's all I needed. Do you have the Aloha installation disk available, any version 5.3 or 6.1 will work.

I will search for the disks and let you know if I cannot find them. Thank you!

Hey Coorsman,

With his 2 different versions, can he copy the BIN folder from the newer one to the older one and do a DBCONFIG.EXE and get them on the same version?
Which 6.X version of Aloha requires the end user to get new key codes?

I have been out of the loop for a while now, but when I saw this I thought he could put them on the same versions because you didn't need new key codes till 6.4 or newer but not sure or clear on that.

Each version upgrading from 5. to 6. and each sub 6.1 6.2 6.3 6.4 6.5 6.6 6.7 etc would need a key upgrade which would require calling your local dealer and getting new License numbers and lots more $$$.

Upgrading 6.4.10 to 6.4.29 etc, would not need to upgrade the key numbers.

Make sure you are licensed for version you are installing. You will need correct SEC codes for HASP key and only your dealer can provide you with those.

Upgrade is fairly easy. Copy over aloha folder to a new server. Run the "advanced.exe" on Aloha CD and specify same folder. Aloha will do a database upgrade.
