I do not know what happened. No error massages. When I open the sales data for Sep 4th all numbers are zero even timekipping is zero. What could have happened? Can I recover Data?

did your site happen to go into redundancy or in other words, did the server go down and then the master terminal was made the fileserver?

It may have lost contact with the server temporerily. there was no one at the restaurant to chose a master terminal. We left the restaurant everything was working when we checked the next day data was lost. No other problems.

just to be sure, check on the master terminal or all terminals for that matter, and make sure there is not a dated sub for that date, if it is then move it to the server then grind the data, though if no one was there to make it master then there probably is not going to be any dated subs.

Is there a trans.log in this dated sub?, you may need to simply regrind the data to repopulate the grind dbf files.

I'm sorry I meant to say if no one was there to make if fileserver, it was already the master terminal.

If I do find it how do I regrind the data?

if the "done30" file exists in the dated folder it should grind automatically once it is in the aloha folder.

if not the EOD for that day did not finish.

you can manually grind from run with:
c:\aloha\bin\grind.exe /date 20060919
replace the c with the correct drive letter if not installed on the c drive. replace 20060919 with the actual date in yyyymmdd format.
