Aloha QS: Comps cannot be applied at certain times

In AlohaQS 5.3, at certain times during the day (usually around lunchtime) some of the comp items, including open % and open $, will just stop working. When I try to apply them it will say "Comp cannot be applied at this time". I don't know when the exact times are that the comps stop working, and each type of comp seems to stop working at different times. I've looked in the manual for anywhere where comps would be restricted and I can't find anything.

Do items need to be in a certain category for comps to be applied to them? Is there a secret page where I can set what times a comp can and can't be applied? If anyone has a basic tutorial on how to set specific times for comps that would probably be the most helpful.

I believe you can set specific times in Events.

I thought maybe there was something in events that would be enabling/disabling the comps at certain times, but the only event that's set is EOD. I tried adding an event "activate comp" and set the time for five minutes from now. I set it to activate the Open % comp, checked the "activated" check box, and left the button position as 0. The Open % wasn't working, I waited 5 minutes for the event to happen, then I tried it again and it still didn't work. I get the feeling the problem is somewhere other than the events window.

Did you refresh the system after you put in that event?

It could be that your items need to be assigned to a certain category.

Check the category that is linked to your comps that appear not to be working. Then make sure all the items are linked to that category. In Maintenance---Menu---Categories

That did the trick. The category for the comps was switched to breakfast items instead of all items, which is why we thought comps weren't working at lunchtime. Thanks for the tip.
