Hello all.
I'll start with a little background, about a month ago we started to have problems with the end of day grind, I read on here at that timeabout copy and pasting the marker file(?) into the folder for the day that isn't grinding to make it grind, so that's been working fine and I was treating it as a temporary solution until I finally post on here and find some help.
However at this point I decided I need to post here, for the first time since the problems began I went to view/print some sales reports for our accountant, and for whatever reason, all of the available dates for sales related reports are from 2006, nothing past that point.
I can get labor reports from whenever I like though.
I imagine these problems are linked, or just one hell of a coincedence.
Is there any extra information I could provide that would help you guys help me?
This system was in place before I started here and it's just kind of, fallen on me to edit/update/fix all the computer related business, but I'm by no means an expert.

I've noticed there are updates to QS and I have a quick question regarding this; Is there any chance updating could give us problems with any settings we may have set up and could updating fix these issues?
If so, where do I go to update?

Thanks for reading and in advance for any help offered, it's greatly appreciated.

Also, I noticed a few people doing this in other threads so I zipped up my entire TMP folder and uploaded it to MF, hope it helps.
I did flick through a few of these reports myself but most of it just goes straight over my head. :-/

I checked out your problem, not seeing it yet. Maybe it'll hit me tomorrow.

Thanks coorsman, if there's any more info I can give that would be helpful just let me know, thanks again for looking at this.

How many years - dated subdirectories do you have under
c:\alohaqs\

Aloha only reads the dated subs with a done30 file in them there should also be gnd*.dbf files in them for data to be read. If you didn't grind these files won't be there and aloha manager reports won't see them. Try running a manual grind on the dated subs.

\alohaqs\bin\grindq /date 20110414
then check for the gnd*.dbf files and the done30 marker file.

Coorsman

Okay, I just tried that and it told me the database needs updating, I notice I have 2 exe's in the BIN folder,"dbup2" and "dbup3", should I run one of these? And if so, which one?
Also I've accessed these sales records before, a large chunk of records have disappeared, the folders are still there though with their respective done30 and gnd files still in place, oddly the done30 files have no file size, or is this normal?
I do recall doing something to do with grinding in the aloha manager when we first started having problems, maybe I regrinded them and it messed up the files? Not sure.
Thanks for the help so far, really appreciate it.

I kind saw the sae problems today, one of out techs accidently installed 5.3gold instead of 5.3enhanced - did you update your bin files about the same time your problems started? These two versions are incompatible and won't grind. Also , can you do a manual grind or if you do a database upgrade - Aloha Manager - utulilities, upgrade, can you regrind the dated sub?

That doesn't sound possible to be able to not see any dates after 2006 in the sales portion of report but see all current labor???

I can't seem to find any update function within the Aloha Manager, the following are all my options under utilities; Refresh Data, Preferences, Verify Data, View Debugging file, Stop Front of House, Start Front of House, Regrind Subdirectories, Grind Status and Fileserver Recovery.
I did a regrind of everything through the regrind subdirectories option, which put them back on the list of sales reports up until we had grind problems initially, which was on the 21st of March.
We're still having problems with the FOH getting stuck grinding at EOD, we're currently getting by it by copy pasting the gnd* file into the previous nights folder.
I'm also going to upload a zip of my tmp folder for today in the hopes it'll help.
Thanks for everything so far guys!

Just thought I'd post and let you guys know I'd resolved the problem, I ended up marking everything for a regrind and that night everything went through, still not sure what the problem was exactly, but as long as it's gone, I don't mind!

Thanks for all your help!
