Our restaurant has been experiencing many problems with Aloha POS. It is an older version, maybe v6.4.

Yesterday a server printed a check and the drinks did not print out but entrees did. This is especially troubling considering the loss of tips it could cause if servers don't double check the check's total against the written total.

Two weeks ago, a table totally disappeared from computer after the items which were placed on hold were ordered. Not only did the entrees disappear, but also the drink that had already been ordered.

Does anyone know if it is a software issue or did someone mess up in the Aloha Manager?

This sounds like a bug in the software version you are on. I would try to see what version you can upgrade to.

Last version for 6.4 was 6.4.39
If this is a random issue I doubt it is a programming change. Otherwise it would be happening all the time. You may be experiencing a networking issue. Do you ever have errors about terminals being down when they are not? Also have you checked your audit reports for those days. Check if the orders were transferred to a different check. While the audit report may look confusing at first, it will make sense very quickly as you start to follow how it is laid out.

Thank you for taking the time to review our problem. I had the manager print the audit report and it basically shows that it wasn't the waiter's error. The waiter was blamed for printing check with out drinks on it, whereas the evidence showed that there was no such transfers. We are using aloha version 6.4.38. The problem we have encountered have been occurring when using the same terminal. Is there a test we can do to determine that the line going to main terminal isn't compromised? I attached some info regarding the erroneous transaction.

You can have a low voltage person come out and certifiy the line. Also check the patch cables for any green patina on the cables. I have never seen this exact kind of issue being software related. Its usually hardware related to the network connection. Try changing the port on the switch this computer is plugged into and see if that makes a difference. It could also be a network switch issue.

After checking all the Cat5 cables with a low voltage meter, all the wires seem to be working. I was wondering if upgrading the computer that is running file server will help? It is a rather old computer, running windows xp. I am thinking if we replace that computer and clone hard drive onto new one; it will improve performance.
