I am looking to do some things in Aloha Pos and hope someone can help.

1. I am opening the Aloha Manager and selecting Price change maintance. I change the price but the tills dont seem to get the changed price. Is there some where else to change prices? I can add Items via submenus so i know the network is ok. Should I be changing prices via Submenus? I dont want to start trying things out and hope they work as its a live system.

2. Is it possible to turn off receipt printing from the POS till. and turn on if receipt is requested.

3. Some items are served with chips or potatoes. How do I setup to select chips or potatoes.

4. I don't know how to give a refund?

5. Is it possible to change prices for a certain day. On Sundays some items are a different price.

If you are wanting to change the price permanently go to the submenu the button is on and change thee price there (assuming you are not using price levels and not setting the item price on the item in "items". If you are needing the price to change during parts of the day/week create an event to activate the price change.

Printing close receipts is determined by the tender type.

Create the side item options in items. Create a modifier group and name it what ever you want. Double click the button on the modifier group where you want the first choice to go, select the item from the item list, price it if it adds to the price of the item. Repeat for the next choice. If the choice is mandatory enter a 1 in minimum. If no more than 1 choice is allowed enter 1 in the maximum. If you want the screen to automatically bring the modifier group up on the screen check screen flow required. Go to items and select the item you want the modifier group to be attached to and go to the modifiers tab. Select one of the modifier placements on the right side and find the modifier group from the drop down list. Remember by default in Aloha the modifiers print in the order that they are attached to the item. So for a burger your modifiers for example might be 1. meat temp 2. burger mods 3. bread choice 4. burger sides. You want them to print to the kitchen in the order that the kitchen needs to read them.

Go to your name in the employee list. go to the job codes tab, see what access level is assigned to you. Go to that access level (maintenance, employee, access levels) and make sure cash refunds and or credit card refunds is checked. To do the refund from the FOH go to functions, financial, refund.

You can change prices by day, time of specific days or a specific time of all days. You can do this a number of ways. Create a price level including items to be changed, change the prices for that level in price changes then fire the price change in events (refer to
answers to number 1). You will have to ensure that the price assignments for the item buttons on the submenus are set to use price levels and not button or item pricing for this method to work. You can also change prices by button position on submenus through events. You can create new menus and submenus with the button prices set have the desired price for that day. The new menus world be assigned in events.

If you get stuck there are a few of us on this forum that support Aloha professionally.

Thanks for the reply it was very helpful. When you say Printing close receipts is determined by the tender type.Does this mean that printing is either turned on or off from the Aloha Manager. I thought it might be possible to lets say press F11 to disable printing receipts from the POS till and F11 again to enable.

Also if I set an event to change price for every Sunday do I have to create another event to have it change back to normal price or will it change back automatically.

Each tender has an option to print the check when they are used and a check is closed. Pull up your tenders and look for Print Check or Print Check on Close.

Print Check on Close - Sets the tender type to automatically print a copy of the guest check when you close the check. If you select this option for the default ‘Cash’ tender, the system automatically includes all other cash tenders, such as the $5.00, $10.00, and $20.00 tenders. Any guest check closed with these tenders, by themselves, or together, causes a guest check to print because they are defined as cash tenders.

If you set an event to fire off a price change, and you want it to run until close, no, you do not need to disable the price change. EOD will automatically turn it off. If you want to run a special during specific hours, for example, 4-7pm, then you will need 2 events - 1 to enable it, and 1 to disable it.

I personally, when using price changes, do not use the price levels part of it. Price levels, in my opinion, are better for groups of items like beverages. I have all my coke products using a price change labeled Beverage. The each item on the submenu is set for Price Level as the pricing option. This way, if I want to change all my beverage pricing at once, I only have to change 1 price. Either way, its whatever works best for you.
