The problem began when one out terminal's screen went dark. We could see the screen but it was extremely dark. Bebooted the terminal, as it came back up we could see the Windows start up screen fine, but then as it started to load ALOHA, it went dark again. We switched the terminal with another one, but that caused all the printers in the kitchen to go offline, so we switched the terminals back. Once we switched the terminals back, the printers remained "offline." Also, the terminal we used to switch the bad terminal out with said "cannot find file server," so we added the 2 numbers and made file server. We went in to re-route "printer 2 ---->Printer 3 but it wont stay rerouted and says "auto" next to it.

To summarize:
1: Terminal SCreen is very dim
2: "Hot Line" Printer is rerouted to "Cold Line" printer (AUTO).
3: "Receipt 3" printer is rerouted to "Receipt 2" printer (AUTO).

The dim screen is the flourescent tubes have gone out or the inverter board that drives them. Vendor repair or loacal monitor/tv repair place can fix that issue.

You put one terminal into redundancy and now the others don't see it and can not print to the printers it drives. Do a fileserver recovery from the back offfice and get them all back as terminals. If a terminal that was working now doesn't see the file server, you did not plug the networking cable into the correct spot.

sounds like you put that terminal with the issue in redundancy, so its not connected with the system. You might want to check the settings on that terminal to sync up. Check the printer settings in your aloha manager. See what com ports they are connected to and plug them in accordingly to get those printers back up. If you are swapping the same type terminals you wont have to worry about the type of connector used.

In aloha manager - utilities - file server recovery - usually have to click on it 2 or 3 times in a row.

If I switch terminals, how come some of the printers are "offline" and how do I get them back online? file server recovery? This will allow the new terminal to find the printer drivers?

Terminals drive specific printers by hard wire. If terminal 1 com 2 drives the hot printer and you put terminal 2 in its place, you have to go into printer maintenance and change it to be driven by terminal 2 com 2 because that is were it plugs in now.

check in your aloha manager under maintenance-printers for the settings of your printers like i said in my previous post.
