Hi,

I work for a client wants to have real time (or near real time) sales data (in form of custom reports) coming from Aloha POS.

I read whole bunch of threads related with Aloha POS on this forum and my understanding of possible interfaces with Aloha POS is:
1. AlohaSpy – this one sends data real time (mostly is used to output data to DVRs, but has limitations like is not sending Check number; data is received on Com Port, custom soft which reads data has to installed on computer where data is sent.
2. COM Data Access – this one allows reading data from transaction log file (current day data); in order to implement this method I will need SDK (which is impossible to get), custom soft which reads data would have to be installed on POS.
3. DBF files – are filed with current day data after EOD occurs – so there will be no real time data, but I can access old data (fairly easily) , custom soft which reads data would have to be installed on POS.

Did anyone implemented such interface or has any experience how I could approach this task ?

Greetings Cray

I am also taking on a similar project and actually need the same information. I have reached out to Radient, but have not heard back yet. My interface would actually involve transactions inititated from the POS terminals that communicate with a remote service.

I would appreciate any insight into the Aloha development options.

As a licensed reseller and Aloha developer, we've done this several times. As a developer, I can tell you that you will need COM for the more serious work. Activity intercepts are a great way to get realtime transactions. It really depends on what you are building.

Chit files and Check files are another way to to get data, besides the options already discussed.
