Hello, I'm new to this forum and apologize for my lack of computer sophistication. I have a small pub with 2 terminals and a separate Windows 7 BOH. Term 1 is a radiant P1515, 2gb uSSD. Term 2 is a P1220 with standard HD. I believe both are running current software versions as the BOH computer is new and was programmed by licensed Radiant technicians recently.
When we get very busy Term 1 slows down horribly and sometimes send the error message "Can't Locate Master" or something similar. This happens almost like clockwork between 10:30pm and 1:00am, our busiest time. During this time Term 2 is generally not in use (it's located in a dining room and used for earlier service). It doesn't seem to happen when we are not busy (of course). Network connections and speed are good. The message is not "Make Fileserver" which happens when internet connection goes out temporarily or there is a power blip. The bartenders have taken to turning off Term 2 when this happens and it seems to help. My local Radiant support seems to be at a loss for an answer. The 2gb uSSD is about 75% of capacity. I'm not sure which terminal is the master when this occurs as I'm generally not here.

Any help would be appreciated

You didn't specify what version of Aloha you are on, since you said the server is new I'm thinking your dealer also upgrded your version. There is a bug in a certian version of 6.5 and 6.7 that will cause the symptoms you are describing. I had the same problem after upgrading several sites a few weeks back.

Fixed an issue where the master terminal might not recognize a terminal that previously fell offline. The master terminal would have to be restarted in order for it to recognize the other terminals.
This was fixed in 6.7.24

Thank you Coorsman! I contacted my Radiant supplier and was told that I am eligible for the 6.7.24 upgrade. However, they said it was a beta version and I may encounter other issues. Any thoughts?

Best,
Thomas

Every version of Aloha software is full of bugs and issues. It just depends on When you run across one and realize its a bug and not a hardware or uaer problem. Some are what they call fatal errors and the program crashes others are hard to predict and notice.
I spent over 12 hrs over 3 days trying to figure out my issue on the communication error. I replaced everything at the site and also their kitchen video was not working. After an upgrade everything worked just fine and we had a problem at another site with opos printers crapping out. An upgrade fixed that too. Good luck.

thwc,

it could also be settings on your terminals. if you state that this happens at the busiest times and when the other terminal is not in use. It is possible that your other terminal is the master and the power management on the NIC is enable and therefore causes your bar terminal to lose communication to your master terminal. I would check the power management settings on your nic card on your terminals.
