Hi guys
i use aloha mgr on an old laptop and want to transfer it to a new laptop.

Aloha is stored on a server which i can connect to however alohamgr.exe will not start on the new machine as i obviously need to install it properly as opposed to copying c:aloha folder from old machine ( i get iberdir.dll error)

any suggestions please on were i can download the installation file? or any other help pls

Thanks

jc

Just copy the Aloha directory and register the aloha components -Run the register batch file. Then copy any aloha environment settings that were added on the original computer to the new one.

If you ever saw the source code for the installer, you'd see it really does nothing more than copy the files, register the components, and setting the values in your environment.

btw, Why don't you have the installation CD anymore? For what you pay for the POS system, why wouldn't you have the CD still?

Thanks for your reply..

were can i find the register batch file please?

As far as not having the cd, the business was bought in the last year and aloha was already running and we werent given a copy of the cd.

In order to get a copy here they want to charge me through the roof + an horly rate which includes travel time each way and is extremely expensive.

The batch file to register the services will bo located on the drive or partition Aloha is installed on. (If Aloha is on c:\aloha then it will be in c: . It will be named register*.bat.) You can most assuredly find it on the actual Aloha fileserver but it should also be on the old remote laptop. If the drive letter of the install is different than that on the new laptop you will have to edit the batch file. Edit the .bat file changing all poiters to "Aloha\Bin" to the drive letter assignment you need. (If the batch file points to d:\Aloha\Bin then change all instances of that in the batch file to c:\Aloha\Bin\ on the new laptop if you are using the c: drive).
Also be sure to use the command line on the shorcut to Aloha on the old remote computer as that will have needed switches and paths. The new remote computer will have to map a network drive to the fileserver and log in so be sure your username and password from the new remote is registered on the fileserver. The remote will need a compatable IP address, identical subnet mask and will need to have a mapped drive to the shared bootdrv drive on the fileserver. That will probably be "\\Alohaboh\bootdrv".
