I want to disable the Magnetic Card change password option. Where does the data goes when a user change the magnetic card?

First, you can't disable this. It's hardcoded. Second, the password and Mag data are stored in the EMP.DBF. These are encrypted and you can't change those either. Can I ask why you want to change this?

Because I want to force the managers of my company use the finger print reader not the magnetic card. They had the log in and clocking using fingerprint reader enable, however a cashier can apply a comp if the manager swipe a magnetic card using change password. The manager of my company had to autorize comp, checkout and void. I dont want a cashier apply a comp using a manager mag card.

Unfortunately, there is no way to disable the change passowrd function...you kind of don't want to do that either in the event that a manager card falls into the wrong hands. As soon as that happens, the manager can assign a new card thereby invalidating the old one. This sounds like a training issue. You must make it clear to the managers that they are NOT to hand out their manager cards...PERIOD. I would express severe repercussions!

There is a way to disable the "Change Password" button from the FOH, but oxygenetic is right, you probably do not want to do this.

Bigblok...I have been screaming for an answer from Radiant to this problem. They insist that there is no way to do this and through all my searching I've come to be defeated and agree with them. If you know of a way, please let me know...I can never remove this option from the servers and, without fail, they end up changing their passwords in the middle of a busy shift and lock themselves out! I can't tell you how many of our calls start with "My server can't access his/her tables!"

...or is it global?

Sorry, global only - Store Settings>Security>POS Password Settings>Disabled. Yes this is one of the most common "Problems" people call in about.

"I can't clock in, it says wrong password" - Employee
"Did you hit the change password button?" - Me
"I didn't do anything different then I normally do" - Employee
"Of course you didn't" - Me

LOL...thanks bigblok...I knew that...just hoping it wasn't global!

I usually show the servers how to do it (b/c they'll find it eventually) and then scare them by showing them how they can't log back in.

This has been a problem for a long time with Aloha. I have even seen an invalid password problem when there is no password. This has always reminded me of the glitch that only the super-user can change back office security options.

Does a program can be done to look in the emp.dbf file and look into the employees with a job code = manager and then delete the magnetic card hash? Therefore enforcing them to use the fingerprint reader? All my terminal have the biometric fingerprint reader.
