Aloha Global Price Increase

Hello Everyone.

I have a client that just bought a bar, we have always supported there other business and now with the bar we are dealing with the Aloha POS system. They have had no problems with it, but the customer has asked me a question that I have no quick answer for her.

In Aloha is there a way to increase the price of all liquor items automaticly.

The only way we have come up with is to change the price on each item one at a time. But with 100's of items, plus food items it would take a lot of time.

So my customer would like to increase the price of all drinks .25 cents and then later increase the price of all the food items .25 cents.

This would be a perment price change.

So my question is there a way to increase the prices too all items by .25 cents?

If your pricing was setup using price levels, you can affect each price level, which will affect all the items using that price level.
But most likely, the answer to your question is 'no'.
You need to change the prices on each item.

But again, it depends on how you are set up.

A good way to set up bar prices, is to assign drinks to levels. That way your price increases will be easier in the future. And happy hour pricing is easier too.

 
Haven't done it with Aloha, but with retail inventory systems. You can import the ITM.DBF to an Excel file, run a formula on the price column, that does a +.25, save and import back to Aloha. Maybe?

Actually, Bo's idea is feasible.
The formula would have to determine if it is a drink, or food item however.
You may be able to do that with the taxid that is assigned to the items, or some other way to determine the difference.
Or, you could cross-reference it to the cat.dbf and change prices by category.
It would require some excel savvy.
And you have to save it in the same format, dbfIV.
After you drop it back in, run the database upgrade utility, just to be sure.
 
Sorry for stating the obvious, but implicated complicated menu schemes just pretty much stinks across the board, with any POS system. Ironically, it sounds like your trying to keep it simple by sticking with an "across the board" increase, and still you get screwed, lol.

Honestly, even if you have to resort to copying your old submeus and adjusting prices one by one, then scheduling the menu to launch at some specific time, it will probably take you less time than you think.
