Our Aloha system FOH terminals need be converted from Windows 7 POSReady to Windows 10 Enterprise IoT. I have legal access to Windows 10 IoT bits. I'm testing the upgrade process on a spare FOH terminal. It looks like it'll cost about $80 per terminal for the OS, RAM & a SSD, which works better than buying new terminals in our situation. Today I formatted the SSD, downloaded the OS bits from MS and installed (new) it. Only four devices needed drivers from NCR's website. My goal is to get all drivers/services/apps installed w/o using our Aloha distributor (an hourly rate), but I realize that may be unrealistic. Some of the required steps are easy for me like computer name, static IPv4, Windows accounts, network shares, etc. But other steps are Aloha-specific and not obvious to me. I have heard about Aloha's terminal install; my understanding is from FOH, I run the installer off of the fileserver's share. I know there's a batch file that specifies terminal info. I'll also have to address add-ons like Punchh.
Another thought I had is to upgrade W7 to W10 vs install W10 from scratch. I don't yet know if W10 IoT even supports an upgrade. This approach would has pros & cons.
I'm open to suggestions on what to do or stay away from.
Thank you all
