One more for the forum:

When using the Aloha basic labor scheduler and the enforce schedule is there a way to enforce a clock-out rule, like employees must clock-out no more than 15 minutes after their scheduled shift ends? I am looking for a way to lower overtime but can only find an enforce clock-in time, not a clock-out. Any way to do this, or any ideas, other than telling employees and editing punches everyday?

Thanks,
David

Sorry David, but I'm not aware of any method of doing that as it would be in violation of Federal Labor Laws. That's something you really have to manage on your own.

themaj is correct. No system should do this as it would break federal labor laws and the software vendor would end up in the soup...
You can use reporting to compare actual labor to scheduled labor.
Quantify you schedule/tasks. If your employees are going over you either have a schedule problem or a productivity/training/management problem. You are far better addressing these issues than looking for a quick fix via POS...

Figured as much, but just checking....

Thanks

I'm not aware of any labor law violations regarding this. Scheduler override is easy, it just makes them get a manager to clock them out. It seems to me to be the same legality as the clock-in function.
If some one is scheduled to work 9-5 they can work 9-5. if they want to punch in early, they just have to ask a manager if that is ok. If they needed to stay later, the manager is just made aware by requiring the employee to ask to be punched out.
What would the legal problem be??
In any case, Radiant also does not believe it to be an issue because this functionality is coming in v6.0

Rokstar is correct. Aloha v6.0 does allow enforce schedule for clock out. This does not force the employee to clock out at the scheduled clock out time. This forces a manager to swipe their card if an employee clocks out XX minutes after their scheduled clock out time.

This simply raises manager awareness around employees clocking out at their scheduled time.

I think the misunderstanding was if the system would automatically clock them out, and that is illegal. Manager intervention is not. This way the employee still gets their clock out chit with hours worked for their records which gives them a paper trail to argue if someone goes in edits their punches and docks them time that they worked.
