Aloha Employee clock-in best practices

Hi All -

Wondering what the best practice for employee clock-ins is.

Currently employees use the employee number assigned to them in BOH. (This is QS so I don't have servers swiping in and out all day, really applies to kitchen staff just clocking in/out)

I am debating whether or not to go to mag cards or another type of number (like last four of SSN).

If I go the mag card route does it make sense to use a card they already carry like a Drivers license or should I give out mag cards?

Either way I'm concerned that when the employee forgets it I have to have the manager intervene and the employee can clock in with their number anyway.

What is the best way to get employees to clock in and deal with lost or forgotten mag cards if I go that route?

(My reason for changing now is the once every few day problem of employees clocking in or out with the wrong number)

I would recommend letting the employee chose what kind of mag card they want. Go to the employees in BOH and click Change Password. Swipe the card they would like to use once, then confirm by swiping it again. If they forget the card, they can still use their number to clock in.

Well in a perfect world you would go to a thumb scan. hopefully no one would leave their fingers at home.

If you sell eCards they are great to use for the employee card, the numbers are always different and they are easy to replace.

Anyone have any thumb/FPR's they recommend?

Anyone have any experience with the elo USB scanners that can be added to their touchcomputers?

The BOH choices are Radiant and Veridicom, can't seem to find any aftermarket products for either of them.
