Sorry in advance if this post is too long or too complicated to be appropriate. I don’t have much experience with this forum.
I have Aloha EDC v6.1.9, and I'm setting up Cardnet as a CES processor. I want to process via the internet with regular modem dialup backup. I also have a swipe machine over dial up that is independent of Aloha. I have been given all the information, but have a few questions in filling out the processor information. I'd like to try to do this myself as my Aloha reps want to charge me $600.
1. On the Setup tab...
I have been given two terminal IDs, one is labeled IPN ID and one is labeled DIAL ID. I'm assuming the “Terminal ID” on this tab is the DIAL ID since there is no where else to use this ID (IPN ID is used later on the TCP/IP tab). Correct? Or is this DIAL ID used in the swipe machine and I should use the IPN ID here?
2. On the TCP/IP tab...
I was given a primary and secondary host name and port numbers. I converted these to IP addresses and am using them in the "TCP/IP CC" section. Is this correct?
If so, should I check "Sockets stay connected"?
I was also given a Terminal ID (the IPN ID mentioned above), a DID, and a Service name. So I am also going to check "Connect using First Data IPN" and fill in these fields. Is this correct? Or am I supposed to use EITHER the "TCP/IP CC" section OR the "Gateway Connection" section?
3. On the Dialing tab...
In the "Settlement Processor" section, should I check "Choose Settlement Processor"? I am currently using VISANET and this is not checked, so I was not going to check it for Carnet either.
4. Finally, I am going to go to Configure - Cards to switch my cards to CES. Is there anything else I need to do to make the switch (INI file changes, registry changes, etc)?
5. Do I have to delete VISANET? I'd like to leave it there as a processor just in case CES doesn't work, so I can switch back easily.
Also aware that I should first backup the EDC.INI file!
