Hi,

I am looking into doing magnetic gift cards for Aloha because I am sick of having to balance out the gift cards at the end of the night. Is Aloha eCard the only way to go? My dealer quoted me on a $250 initial activation fee plus $100 a month for eCard. Is this about right? Also, is eCard the ONLY electronic host for magnetic gift cards, or are there third party alternatives that are compatible with Aloha and work just as well?

Thanks so much for any advice,
Tyler

I've been using Aloha Gift card manager for many years. It's the predecessor to the E-card. It's $1000 one time, no monthly charges. I guess it's probably considered 3rd party software by now. Every now and then my dealer tries to push E-card and e- frequent diner on me but I ain't changing. I don't see a need if you're a single store. 2 or more stores, then having an enterprise solution is a must. Having said that, I don't know if Aloha is still offering the stand alone GC Manager. Since Radiant they're really pushing the E stuff. Ask your dealer.

We also magnetically encode our own cards. With recycling considered we're at about .15 per card total cost.
