Aloha - disable non modifiable areas

Is there anyway to disable the ability to click on areas that mean nothing? Not sure why users can click these dead areas but in our use we have no need for that. If you're in a hurry and miss clicking a item to modify and click and non item.. It's just a wasted step. Thoughts on a solution?
