Aloha Connect Store Setup

Is it correct that Aloha Connect requires FOH (Iber.exe) in order to work properly?

If so, what is the typical Aloha setup for stores with 3rd party integration such as online ordering?
- do they typically have FOH installed on the same BOH machine, and have the 3rd party software running on the same machine?
- do they typically have a separate FOH machine with internet access for running the 3rd party software?
