Hi Guys,

We're building an Aloha configuration for one of our clients, which seems to be giving some problems. I was wondering if someone here could help with a solution.

Our client wants a promo, consisting of a zero price item built up with forced modifiers. However, he doesn't want the modifiers to be printed on a check. It seems that the promo doesn't auto-apply when used with modifiers, and our client doesn't want to have to select all the items himself. Is there a way to get around this??

Thanks in advance for any help..

Need a little more detail about what you are trying to accomplish and how you have it set up now. Also, what version?

I agree. I read this when you originally posted it, and I wasn't sure exactly what you were asking for. I thought maybe it was just me.

Thanks a lot for being prepared to help.
The version we work with is 5.3.
Let me try to explain more clearly:
Our client has a special deal on conference packages. It's called 'The 12 hour conference package', and it includes a conferenceroom, food & beverages and equipment. We created a '12 hour conference'-item, which doesn't have a price. Then we used forced modifiers to include the room, f&b and equipment items to build up the price. This is necessary for his reports. However, the bill that is being printed includes all the items, due to the fact that they have a price.
Our client does not want these printed, but a promo is not an option, because he only wants to have to press one button.
Is this more clear? We tried a lot of things, but we couldn't figure out how to get all his wishes incorporated.
Any of you got a solution??

So your only real deal is that you don't want the modifiers to print on the receipt?

For example (the guest check):

12 hour conference package 00.00
Food 100.00
Balloons 50.00
Strippers 300.00

Then the receipt:

12 hour conference package 450.00

Is that what you're looking for?

You could try Combine Price with Base Item, but from what I recall, the modifier would still show up, but the price would be with the base item. It's weird, because what you're asking for seems so simple, it seems like it should be able to do it. But honestly, I can't think of a way at the moment. I will work on it some more later (assuming this is what you even want).

That would be Quickcombo with 3 components
but you need for your items to add up to more then combo price. eg separatley
Food 125.00
Balloons 75.00
Strippers 335.00
Combo price 450.00

then choose
only print combo name on check.

Yes, I know that would work, but the client wants ONE button. I tried using forced modifiers and then a quickcombo, but the promo function doesn't recognise the modifiers.

For 1 button entry you will probably need to go the combine price route.
Set all of the modifier items to combine price.
Set the modifier items in mod groups with 1 min 1 max and only 1 modifier per group.
The modifiers will print on the guest check even though the entire price will show up on the base item. If you don't want the mods on the check use a character or other text for the long name on the mods. If you do this be sure you are not reporting by long name...
