POS GURUS-- Very strange EDC behavior--

Windows XP Pro
Aloha 6.0.9
EDC 6.0.9

So everything has been working fine/ normal for a long time. Suddenly last night, as the closing manager tries to settle the batch, EDC starts kicking out the message,"Aloha cannot attempt another settlement for 300 seconds."

I go in and take a look and toggle the check mark that says, "No modem failover." and try again and EDC says Network Error: No response from server.

I check to make sure no antispyware/ adware/ anti-virus is causing this. I test the link: and I get the correct response which is that "Get is not supported by the NetConnect Gateway"

Puzzled, I notice that the default browser is Firefox, so I switch it back to IE 8.0.6.

Still nothing. I ran a couple of transactions and get authorizations. I call the advanced product support line at Paymentech and they're puzzled because they see the header coming through and see their systems reply back with "ok" to send transactions but then my system just stops replying. I deleted the first couple of transactions, thinking it might be corruption in the first couple of files and nothing. I check the EDC and SVR debout files and there is no error.

I tried appending the batch number and trying again, nothing.

Finally, I exported a report of all transactions for that date and had Chase Paymentech send me a secure file with the complete cc numbers and authorizations plus amounts and I'm going to have to painstakingly re-key each one, one at a time.

My fear is that the same thing will happen again tonight and I have no way of knowing what's wrong and I don't know what else to trouble shoot. Can any of you POS Gurus please shed a little light on this situation? I am VERY VERY clueless, but hope someone can help.

Thanks so much-

Charles

Check the last txn's and delete all that have a settle request. Then try to settle

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply Coorsman... Unfortunately, it did not work... Now they have almost $8K in CC from the day before that I have to hand key and from last night another $10K in credit cards!! I looked again at the EDC.debout file and got this...Man I'm stressing out!!:

I hope this helps because they're breathing down my neck as to why almost $20K in cc are just "out there".... Please let me know if anyone sees something obvious that I'm missing.

Thanks-

Charles

I figured it out. I took a look at the configuration for the processor and noticed that we were using the (netconnect2.paymentech.net/NetConnect/controller)so I removed the 2 after the netconnect and gave it another shot and everything started processing!! *WHEW*

Now I just need to re-key the previous night's 210 transactions..UGH.. and all will be well in Gotham again!

Thanks and I hope this helps someone in the future!!

Can you not resettle the previous days batch?

Cheers,
Coorsman

I went into the EDC manager and clicked on "Force Settlement" which I was told removes all of the transactions, so I don't think I can. Before I did that, I exported all of that day's transactions to an excel spread sheet, then I had the advanced product support team from Chase Paymentech send me all of the transactions they had so I could enter the tips in accurately.

If you happen to know of a way I can just go back in and reinitialize the previous day's credit cards so I can settle them without having to hand key them in, I would VERY VERY much appreciate that. It would save me hours of work.

Thanks

Charles

There is a program
Called splitsettle that will reverse a stl file. I will look for it at home and get back with u later today I know I have a copy at the office.

Cheers,
Coorsman

Glad you found the problem and hope coorsman comes to the rescue.

Due to odd problems from time to time with SSL over DSL and DSL reliability in general, I always have a backup dial modem in place. Your debout looks as if no attempt to use dialup was ever made. Seems like this could have been helpful in your case.

This is a copy of split settle utility that I had (since coorsman has not come back yet.)

It has an md5 hash of bc43ade447701662c32daf6cd989e13d and is 7185 bytes dated 2/14/00

I have no instructions for its use but it probably goes

SPLITSTL.EXE SETTLEFILENAME

good luck

Yeah, I already went through and re-entered all of the transactions, but thank you anyway. If I run into this issue, I will keep and check out this utility. I toggled the option for no modem rollover upon failure because they dropped and stepped on the modem so one wasn't attached.

Thanks!

IF you edit a *.stl file with a txt editor it contains the txn's. Splitstl.exe will take the file and parse out each transaction and re-create the txn's.

Cheers,
Coorsman
