POS GURUS-- Very strange EDC behavior--
Windows XP Pro
Aloha 6.0.9
EDC 6.0.9
So everything has been working fine/ normal for a long time. Suddenly last night, as the closing manager tries to settle the batch, EDC starts kicking out the message,"Aloha cannot attempt another settlement for 300 seconds."
I go in and take a look and toggle the check mark that says, "No modem failover." and try again and EDC says Network Error: No response from server.
I check to make sure no antispyware/ adware/ anti-virus is causing this. I test the link: and I get the correct response which is that "Get is not supported by the NetConnect Gateway"
Puzzled, I notice that the default browser is Firefox, so I switch it back to IE 8.0.6.
Still nothing. I ran a couple of transactions and get authorizations. I call the advanced product support line at Paymentech and they're puzzled because they see the header coming through and see their systems reply back with "ok" to send transactions but then my system just stops replying. I deleted the first couple of transactions, thinking it might be corruption in the first couple of files and nothing. I check the EDC and SVR debout files and there is no error.
I tried appending the batch number and trying again, nothing.
Finally, I exported a report of all transactions for that date and had Chase Paymentech send me a secure file with the complete cc numbers and authorizations plus amounts and I'm going to have to painstakingly re-key each one, one at a time.
My fear is that the same thing will happen again tonight and I have no way of knowing what's wrong and I don't know what else to trouble shoot. Can any of you POS Gurus please shed a little light on this situation? I am VERY VERY clueless, but hope someone can help.
Thanks so much-
Charles
