I have a Symbol LS 2208 USB barcode scanner that I want to use with Aloha. I have followed all setup instructions in the guide attached, but when I scan a barcode at order entry, the system says "No item or coupon found matching that barcode." The barcode is entered in the system under the item's SKU box. Also, when I try to scan a check at Get Check, the system says "Please enter a check number from the top right of the guest check. If the guest does not have his check, enter the table number instead."

Any ways to fix this? I am using a Posiflex TP-5815 terminal with Aloha version 6.2.15 and Windows XP Professional.

How is the bar code reader assigned in Aloha?

When you are refering to the "guide attached" are you refering the the Sybol Manual? It is needed for programming but there are specific programming requirements needed for Aloha.

I believe that is:
preamble: ~
postamble: ^
upc check digits A and E both turned off (do not transmit).
You will have to start off by setting reader to default from the barcode in the manual. After programming you will have to save via a barcode in the manual.

Being that it is USB you shouldn't have to deal with baud, handshaking and all of that.

I did not set it up in Maintenance > Terminals > Readers, if that is what you're asking.

I'm sorry, I forgot to attach the manual. I have attached it to this post. I scanned all the barcodes in order and still get the error messages. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your reply!

I don't know if this helps, but this is what shows up in Notepad after I configured the scanner and scanned a UPC-A barcode:

^~40050000001

I have the SKU number programmed as 40050000001 in the system.

I got this fixed, just used an old serial scanner I had. Thanks everyone!
