Does someone know how to make my Chase supplied Verifone SC5000 Pinpad work? I called Chase and they said my Aloha system has to initialize the Pinpad.
I use the Everest 1000 and Everest Plus pinpad devices. Verifone injects our key into the terminals and also loads the proper software into the terminal that Aloha can respond with. Also, you have to go into the programming of the terminal and configure the terminal to communicate with the correct baud rate and port settings. Verifone will usually do this for you when they send them, or they may be able to provide you with the instructions.
If you pinpad device was originally used to dial out directly, it will need to be reloaded by Verifone. You can't just take a debit terminal and plug it in.
Are you using the Verifone PP1000SE or the older one? I'm having a heck of a time getting mine to work on the Vital platform. Now I'm getting an error about 32 bytes but at least I'm getting the prompt for the pin.
Sorry, I typed the wrong model number I was using. It was the Verifone Everest and Everest Plus models. We still have some Everest Plus terminals that will need to be replaced next year due to PCI, but I have replaced all the Everest models with the MX-850.
I am not familiar with your model. Have you configured the baud rate and such of the device to match the serial port of the FOH terminal? Also, the device needs to be loaded with a DUKPT or TDES key.
The PIN pads injected with TDES DUKPT encryption keys by a certified secure injection service, such as VeriFone's. Contact VeriFone for details about which companies can provide DUKPT encryption keys for their PIN pads.
VeriFone: Paymentech, Vital/TSYS

Pinpad should be set at 9600,7,E,1.
