Please help...

I have written some asp scripts and for some reason, the users of the web site get a permissions error. They can view all of the html pages ok.. I am using an NT Server web server and IIS4. The permissions on the ASP directory are read-execute and I have created a virtual directory for the ASP directory. All of the web site stuff has script permissions... what am I missing?

Cheers,
Ladyhawk.

Under your properties of your web site under the Home Directory tab, check Script Source Access along with Read if they are not checked. Near the bottom, "Execute Permissions" drop down menu should be set to "scripts only". Unless you have reason to change it, make sure your "Appication Protection" drop down menu is set to "meduim (pooled)".

I realize those settings probably already exists on your machine...just double check them all. If it still doesn't fix your problem, let me know what the specific error is that's received.

I don't have any of those settings.. I only have Application Settings... Permissions... with three options... None / Script / Execute.. and I have it set to script.

You don't have checkboxes under the Home Directory tab like "read", "write", "directory browsing", "log visits", "index this resource", and there should be one for "script source access" as well...don't remember though for sure...been a while since I've used IIS4.0...I'm on 5.0

nope... would you mind if I e-mailed you what the window does look like so that you might be able to help me out?

This problem is really starting to tick me off.

Sure, also, if you could provide a link to the site that is having the error, that would help me get an idea of the problem. You can post the link here in the boards if you like for anyone else reading this with a similar problem may find the solution to it (if we can figure it out...I'm sure we will.) :)

Well, those settings are correct. What is the actual error message you get? -Ovatvvon :-Q

Listed:

HTTP Error 401
401.3 Unauthorized: Unauthorized due to ACL on resource

Do you have IP and/or NT Authentication restrictions on the site? If so, double check that and let me know. -Ovatvvon :-Q
