Does anyone know of a way to allow * commands in the Nortel environment? We have a hybrid system until we switch our call center over to VOIP, but in the meantime we are changing from Meridain Mail to Unity Connection. The new voicemail works just fine on the Nortel phones, but it does not allow for *1234 transfering. I am pretty certain it has something to do with the feature codes, but not certain how to make the change. Thanks in advance for any help.

The best way is to first check what "*" commands are in use. Log in and go into LD 20 e.g.

REQ: PRT
TYPE: DNB
CUST 0
DN *
DATE
PAGE
DES

c/r a few times until you see some details. Please let me know what you get?.

There is nothing configured with a *, and *1234 is just representing the *ext. I deleted the feature codes already, that is why we are not seeing any at this time. But now the system doesn't recognize the * at all.

What system do you want to recognize the * ? The Unity system or the PBX? Is the Unity system connected via some trunk connection or actualy station TNs.

If by trunks, reduce the EOD and ODT values of the route. Set to 256 each and test. Print first of course.

Thanks for your reply. I am trying to get the PBX to pass the characters to Unity. I tried the changes and it did not make a difference. Any other Ideas?

Print/Post the Trunk Route that connects you to the Unity.

That's assuming it is a trunk route

We have opted to use a dialable number instead just for the nortel phones. Thanks for all your help.
