Allow users to log in and out of eMail distribution lists

Does anyone know if there's an application or way to allow users to log in and out of distribution lists.

We use email to communicate changes outside of our CRM application. Some of our users only need to receive mail from certain distribution lists depending on their position of the day.

A DL isn't a mailbox. There are 3rd party solutions that allow people to add/remove themselves to different DLs, but they still have to be logged into their mailbox.

I guess I need to re-phrase my question.

Is there an easy way to allow users to add/remove themselves from DLs? I know this can be done by going into the address book and add/remove IF you have permission. I was hoping perhaps there was an application/script I could write to allow this with a single-click.

There are web based solutions out there that allow users to do this. A simple Google search will dig them up.

MS doesn't supply one out of the box but third party ones work well.
