Allow / disallow fields with script 1

hi

Does anybody know of a way with scripting to make a field have allow entry or not via scripting.

I am trying to make a search page up but I can't get round the fact that once it goes to a layout in find mode if you press enter after entering a search value in a field it displays the first search result which can then be edited directly. Hence I want to somehow not allow entry after the find has been perform I think this might not be possible though???????

u would cover your field with transparent button, assing a script to that button that would:
A. allow entry based on some condition - by "Go to Field" on the form you would like them to be
B. deny entry ( dont do antything or show them a message) based on simple click over this transparent button (unless the somme condition is met)


think of it as a window......"look but don't touch" unless window is open.....u can "open" it based on user name or some codition that u can specify in script
