Hi Everyone,
Before I spend hours trying to figure this out, maybe someone has a quick answer. I have a project with multiple tasks and multiple resources assigned to multiple tasks during a given week. (My schedules tasks are fixed duration) For instance, Res1 is assigned to a task that is 3 weeks (15 working days) long. In the first week, she is not assigned to any other tasks, so she should spend 100% of her time on this task. In the second and third week of this task, she is assigned to 2 tasks simultaneously and should only spend 50% of her time on this task (as she has to spend 50% on the other). Unfortunately, I cannot find a way to adjust the allocation weekly. The % allocation that is being assigned by default seems to assume that all resources will contribute equally to a task over the entire duration of the task and is dividing the hours equally by day. But reality is not so. My resource should spend 8 hours per day for the first week, and 4 hours per day for the second and third week. I know that I can manually adjust each resource's units (%) in the task, but this still assumes equal distribution of allocation for the entire duration of the task. Ultimately, the problem is that my resources are appearing as over allocated in weeks that they should not and under allocated in weeks that they should be allocated at 100%.

Am I making any sense? Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks!

It sounds as if you would like to adjust the amount of Work assigned to a task by day as opposed to adjusting the Units (percentage allocated) and having it spread the Work evenly across the Duration of the task.

In order to adjust the amount of Work on a task by day, click on >View, >Task Usage. This will allow you to see the timephased portion on the right, and from here you can adjust the amount of Work planned for each task by day.

And since you are focusing on resource allocation, it might even be better to leverage the Resource Usage view (click on >View, >Resource Usage. This view will show you the list of resources assigned to this project and all the tasks assigned to each resource just below their name. Over allocated resources show up in red. And if you look at the timephased portion on the right, you will notice it automatically sums up all Work for that resource for each day. This will allow you to easily find which days and which tasks are causing a resource to be over-allocated.

Long winded...but I hope this helps!!
