All we have is Multimode ooops

Customer has 1000 Meter multimode run between buildings and two Cisco 1000BASE-LX/LH GBICs into thier switches. The limit is 550 Meters so the question is are they screwed? The cabling company thought that they were going to use media converters that would allow for up to 2Km so they ran the multimode instead of single mode. How tight are the specs on the cisco cards, could it work?

will go 15k but only 40 kbps point to point

Any 100 baseFX moduke will go 2k at 100 meg on multimode full duplex.

I do not know of any 1000baseLX module advertizing that they go over 550 m.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
